I Am Happy I Am

YACOV SEEDEATER: Shalom to all and blessings in the Name;

It is customary for Asherite children to be most blessed. The traditional blessing is: “May the Father make you like Asher, Jonah, and Phanuel in the name of Philip” (for male Asherites) and “May the Spirit make you like Zilpah, Serah, Shua, and Anna in the names of the Daughters of Philip” (for female Asherites).

URIEL VIGLER: Our sages tell us that when Moshiach comes the earth will be filled with laughter.

SHANA GOLDBERG: “L’Dor V’Dor,” “From Generation to Generation,” has become shorthand for [Asherite] continuity, for transmitting our [Asherite] beliefs.

Ezekiel 36:26 Reversed: I will give you an Old Heart and put an Old Spirit in you; I will remove from you your Heart of Flesh and give you a Heart of Feminine Stone.

מִשְׁנָה

A. LEIB SCHEINBAUM: the word, shmeinah, richness, which Yaakov Avinu uses to describe Asher - Mei Asher shmeinah lachmo, "From Asher- his bread will have richness" (Bereishis 49:20), - is a reference to Asher's land which will be so rich in olive trees that it will flow with oil like a fountain. The word shmeinah is comprised of the same letters which comprise the word Mishnah (Hebrew: מִשְׁנָה, "study by repetition"). This alludes to the true "richness" of Asher; his tribe was devoted to studying Torah, and especially Mishnayos, more so than any other tribe.

JULIE SELTZER: The Israelites are told to construct a table with “Face Bread” as part of the Mishkan. The twelve loaves represent the twelve tribes.
VIRGINIA MILLANO EVANGELISTA FABRO~RIVERA: Nobody is safe, now. We are all in trouble.

VIRGINIA MILLANO EVANGELISTA FABRO~RIVERA: I don't know what's going to happen to this next generation. It's up to the Parents, who have to teach them, now.

אִבְצָן

CHAIM JACHTER: Rav Yoel suggests that Ivtzan is perhaps from Asher, as the northern Beit Lechem (what is referred to in Israel today as Beit Lechem HaGelilit) is located near the border of Asher.
RYAN NELSON: Ibzan was the judge from the tribe of Asher
Pretty much the only thing we know about Ibzan is that he had 30 sons and 30 daughters, and he made a point of marrying all of them to people outside of his tribe. This likely would’ve helped extend his influence throughout Israel, and could have played a role in creating a period of peace.

BAHAY HABER

Clifford Fabro Rivera: Boker Or.
LORELAI KUDE: Asher, blessed with abundance to share generously with his brethren, is the tribal ruler of Aquarius, the sign concerned with universalism, humanitarianism, the unity of individuals within communities, the network of affinities and commonalities uniting us beyond conventionally defined borders.

SHEILA NEMTIN: Moses blesses the tribe of Asher endowing them with the ability to constantly maintain their youth and vigour as the defenders of the north.

LUIS ANTONIO GOKIM TAGLE: Coming to Rome for a universal mission at a time when the lockdown occurs — I am still in awe at the surprises of God. I bring this paradox to reflection and prayer. The situation is reeducating me about the dynamic tension between the local and the universal. We should be cautious that the lockdown, quarantine and distancing not develop into a culture of isolation, indifference and prejudice.

THE PREVIOUS HOMEOWNERS WERE THE JEWISH CLAN OF HABER. ONE OF THE SONS OF HABER VISITED AND TOLD ME THAT HE FOUND A DEAD CAT IN THE LAUNDRY ROOM WHEN HE LIVED HERE.
WIKIPEDIA: Heber or Chéver (Hebrew: חֶבֶר / חָבֶר, Modern Ḥéver / Ḥáver Tiberian Ḥéḇer / Ḥāḇer, "friend", "connected") is the grandson of the patriarch Asher mentioned at Genesis 46:17 and in Numbers 26:45.
WIKIPEDIA: The name "Hebron" traces back to two Semitic roots, which coalesce in the form ḥbr, having reflexes in Hebrew and Amorite and denoting a range of meanings from "colleague", "unite" or "friend". In the proper name Hebron, the original sense may have been alliance.
SARA LERER: Asher’s sons will be princes (This is not stated about other tribes.)

SHMUEL RABINOWITZ: We are home with our families, little or no international travel, little to no international trade.

MICHELLE POGREBINSKY: A priest and a rabbi walk into a 20 degree snowy outdoor wedding sounds like the beginning of a joke however in our case it was the happiest day of our lives. We can't believe how its already been a year since our wedding and look forward to what the next year will bring (our baby!). We want to thank all our amazing friends and family for their support, we love you all very much!
TZIPORAH LIFSHITZ: the tribe of Asher is characterized by domesticity
DAVID GERTLER: As a result of Serach's deed Asher's fame came to him by way of his daughters.

👨🏾‍⚖️🏫

PETER JAMERO: I may have been like other boys, but there was a major difference ― my family included 80 to 100 single young men residing in a Filipino farm-labor camp. It was as a "campo" boy that I first learned of my ancestral roots and the sometimes tortuous path that Filipinos took in sailing halfway around the world to the promise that was America. It was as a campo boy that I first learned the values of family, community, hard work, and education. As a campo boy, I also began to see the two faces of America, a place where Filipinos were at once welcomed and excluded, were considered equal and were discriminated against. It was a place where the values of fairness and freedom often fell short when Filipinos put them to the test.
EMMANUEL SONNENSCHEIN: My dear son, Ignatz, you have, now, left the safety of the House, in which you were born, in order to achieve your life’s goal: to become a Judge, to create laws, as Moses did, to render justice, like King David, and to exercise power from which the Almighty has barred us or, perhaps, protected us for thousands and thousands of years.
IGNATZ SONNENSCHEIN: You are entering a New World, where you will certainly be successful because you have Knowledge. Study has always been our religious duty, as Jews. Our exclusion from Society has given us an ability to adapt to others and to sense connections between things which seem diverse, but if you feel you have power, you are mistaken. If you feel you have the right to put yourself ahead of others because you think you know more than they do, you are wrong. Never allow yourself to be driven into the sin of Conceit. Conceit is the greatest of sins. The source of all other sins.
ADAM SORS: Never give up your religion. Not for God. God is present in all religions, but if your life becomes a struggle for acceptance, you'll always be unhappy. Religion may not be perfect, but it is a well~built boat that can stay balanced and carry you to the other shore. Our life is nothing, but a boat adrift on water balanced by permanent uncertainty. About the People whom you will judge, know this: all they do is struggle to find a kind of security. They're just People, like us. Therefore you mustn't judge them on the basis of appearance or hearsay. Trust no one. Examine all things yourself. Do not join with power. Despise all rank. Do not be ostentatious with what is yours. Owning possessions and property ultimately comes to nothing. Possessions and property can be consumed by fire, swept away by flood; taken away by politics. Do not undertake what you do not know. This causes anxiety which makes you ill. Exercise discipline.
&
MEIR BUCHNICK: In fact, even the Supreme Court has ruled that if the decision at hand is timely and dependent on an opportunity that may no longer be available in the future (such as the support of an American president), the government is authorized to make the decision.

DAVID G. SAVAGE: The death of liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg could allow legal conservatives to take full control of the Supreme Court for a decade or more, imposing a historic shift to the right with vast implications for U.S. jurisprudence and society at large.
Brought to you under the direction of The Edmond J Safra Synagogue: Asher, Yaakob’s son, stands by the entrance of Gehinam, and rescues anyone who has studied Mishna. This is the meaning of the verse, "Me’Asher Shemena Lahmo" ("From Asher – his bread is hearty" – Bereshit 49:20). The word "Shemena" has the same letters as "Mishna," suggesting that Asher benefits people who study Mishna.
שמואל בוטחI believe the mind is a muscle. The more we exercise the mind, the smarter we become, like any other corporeal faculty.
I believe passionately that education improves our mental faculty, just as good nutrition improvise our physical faculties. To the extent that we Jews are perceived as smart, it’s because of our emphasis on textual study and education.
JAMES EMERY WHITE: While the subculture resting at the top of the epicenters of society – the educational system, the media of mass communication and the upper echelons of the legal system – have been largely secularized, we are keenly feeling the post-Christian nature of our world in our neighbor.

RINA CASTELNUOVOI was raised in a House of Silence. My parents wouldn’t talk.

GARY STERN: It's a given that everything in K-12 education is going digital. But Stepinac, a Roman Catholic school for boys, is out in front when it comes to letting go of expensive, heavy, environmentally unfriendly and instantly outdated books in favor of video review lessons for calculus and Latin stories that can be read out loud.
In the past, students' families had to spend up to $700 a year on textbooks. This year — after the one-time purchase of a tablet or laptop — families have to pay $150 for access to the digital library.
"It reads to you," he said. "Listening to a book might not be the worst thing in the world."
Listening comes first.
We are all in a hurry, rushing to say something, to issue a statement, even when we have not heard yet. We have already something prepared without knowing what the question or statement is.

I think, what's Genius about Anna of the tribe of Asher was that she did not need to utter any prophecy about the Child Jesus, like Simeon. Her faith was largely intuitive.

LUIS ANTONIO GOKIM TAGLE: We hope we could also be like Simeon and Anna, always looking forward to seeing God’s salvation.

"Ashes are symbolic, but what do you do with them? Ashes are somewhat unique because they do not constitute a body that would need to be buried in a halachic sense. There is no longer the 'chiuv' — the obligation — to bury it because it is no longer recognizable. If a body is burned completely, the ashes are considered to be something that there is not an obligation to bury, but the bottom line is that although there might not be a chiuv to bury, burial nonetheless is the opinion of most of the rabbis who write about it, both for 'kavod hamet' — honoring the dead — and also honoring the living. That included parts of the human body — skin for lampshades, soap made out of bodies. You bury them, out of respect for the martyrs of the Shoah, to indicate that their remains will be included in 'techiyas hameisim,' the resurrection of the dead and World to Come, when one day, we will meet our loved ones again."

ST. PAULS: Anna does not utter any prophecy about the Child Jesus, like Simeon. She just thanks God for the Child. She also speaks about Him to her fellow Jews who, like her, await the redemption of Israel. As a prophetess, she evangelizes.
RUTH ADAR: There is a blessing for the sight of a volcanic eruption:
"Baruch Atah Adonai, Eloheinu Melech haOlam, sheh-ko-KHO ug-vu-rah-TOH mah-LAY oh-LAHM.
Blessed are You, Eternal our God, Ruler of All-that-is, whose strength and power fill the world."

Walang ligaya sa lupa na hindi dinilig ng luha.

Filipino Proverb: There is no earthly bliss not watered by tears.

Bnei Lot are of an ancient origin. In the migratory tradition of Ruth begun more than two millennia ago, a remnant of David and Solomon migrated into Maritime Southeast Asia which comprises what is now Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, The Philippines, and Singapore, as well as Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia, with a sizeable minority of Malays migrating back to their tribal allotments in Sephardic Judah, besides Terrestrial and Figurative Jordan.
