Rajiv Biswas: By 2033, the Philippines is forecast to become on the Asia-Pacific region's one trillion-dollar economies, joining mainland China, Japan, India, South Korea, Australia, Taiwan and Indonesia in this grouping of the largest economies in APAC. The rapid growth of household incomes over the next decade will help to underpin the growth of the Philippines domestic consumer market, catalysing foreign and domestic investment into many sectors of the Philippines economy.

Zev Farber: What I suspect will happen, if this government remains in charge, is that we will go backwards, cancel the Disengagement, retake Gaza, rebuild the destroyed settlements, and return to the status quo ante, circa 2004.

Mikhail Khodarenok: Thus, it cannot be ruled out that the entire territory of the Palestinian exclave will soon be under the control of the Israelis.
BEA CUPIN: [T]he Philippine embassy in Amman, Jordan... has jurisdiction over Gaza

Avi Hoffman: Gaza was one of the cities that Joshua failed to capture in his lifetime (Joshua 10:41 [with Rashi], 11:22, 13:1-3), leaving that task to the tribe of Judah (Judges 1:1-2).

Michael Van Sloun: The Greek word "eucharisteo" means "to give thanks." The Catechism states that the Eucharist "is an act of thanksgiving to God" (No. 1329).

Whereas it is the duty of all nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey His will, to be grateful for His benefits, and humbly to implore His protection and favor; and—Whereas both Houses of Congress have, by their joint committee, requested me "to recommend to the people of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness:"
Now, therefore, I do recommend and assign Thursday, the 26th day of November next, to be devoted by the people of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being who is the beneficent author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be; that we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks for His kind care and protection of the people of this country previous to their becoming a nation; for the signal and manifold mercies and the favor, able interpositions of His providence in the course and conclusion of the late war; for the great degree of tranquillity, union, and plenty which we have since enjoyed; for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government for our safety and happiness, and particularly the national one now lately instituted; for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed, and the means we have of acquiring and diffusing useful knowledge; and, in general, for all the great and various favors which He has been pleased to confer upon us.
And also that we may then unite in most humbly offering our prayers and supplications to the great Lord and Ruler of Nations, and beseech Him to pardon our national and other trangressions; to enable us all, whether in public or private stations, to perform our several and relative duties properly and punctually; to render our National Government a blessing to all the people by constantly being a Government of wise, just, and constitutional laws, discreetly and faithfully executed and obeyed; to protect and guide all sovereigns and nations (especially such as have shown kindness to us), and to bless them with good governments, peace, and concord; to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue, and the increase of science among them and us; and, generally, to grant unto all mankind such a degree of temporal prosperity as He alone knows to be best.

LAWRENCE S. ZIERLER: As miracles occur daily for our benefit, the Gerer Rebbe explains, we must recognize and thank Hashem every day for His help. It is not sufficient that we gave thanks yesterday. Every day brings new opportunities to appreciate God's goodness to us, and we must express our thanks in a timely manner.

MARTIN SHERMAN: [Israel] may be soon compelled to recalibrate its relationship with U.S. Jewry — or, at least significant portions of it.
NAOMI ZEVELOFF: The traditional Israeli weekend reflects the rhythm of observant Jewish life. For many Israeli Jews — even those who aren’t religious — Friday afternoons are spent busily preparing for a lavish Friday night Sabbath meal; the weekly holiday starts at sundown and continues through Saturday evening. The vast majority of Israeli businesses, save for a grocery store here or a restaurant there, are closed on the Sabbath.
Fast-forward to today’s capitalist Israel, where companies that do business abroad find themselves crippled by the Israeli workweek. Not only do they lose precious work hours Friday, but they also have an unproductive day Sunday, when they are at work. “For me, for business purposes, working on Sunday is almost completely pointless,” Snyder said.
MICHAEL CHUA: The story of this nation began with a boat. Then they introduced an innovation in maritime history that would make the boats stay afloat longer and travel farther distances — the outrigger. And because of these outrigger canoes, as genetics will prove to us, our bloodline scattered from these islands to Southeast Asia, Oceania, New Zealand and Hawaii as far as Easter Island to the east of the Pacific and Madagascar to the west near Africa. This is how bold our ancestors were! Unafraid of the tempest, deciphering the stars (yes, they had a concept of constellation). They went to search for home and kaginhawahan (the good life or well-being).

Walang ligaya sa lupa na hindi dinilig ng luha.

Filipino Proverb: There is no earthly bliss not watered by tears.

Bnei Lot are of an ancient origin. In the migratory tradition of Ruth begun more than two millennia ago, a remnant of David and Solomon migrated into Maritime Southeast Asia which comprises what is now Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, The Philippines, and Singapore, as well as Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia, with a sizeable minority of Malays migrating back to their tribal allotments in Sephardic Judah, besides Terrestrial and Figurative Jordan.
