Zohar 1:235b: The king heard and understood that he was seeking favor for his son, so Ya'akov said, 'Reuven, my first born are you, my strength and first fruit of my vigor' (for Reuvenim precede their brethren in battle)—here entrusting him to the king. 'Unbridled as water, you will not remain!' Here he predicted what would befall him: that he would not remain in The Land, but settle outside, East of the Jordan.
