BENJAMIN BLECH: It is a moment in time which serves as a reminder of God's awesome power and goodness. Without the benefit of the sun, its light, its warmth, its power, its energy and its role in the solar system, we could not survive for a moment. That is why, with infinite wisdom and at preordained times on the calendar, God removes us from its rays for the briefest of times so that we might reflect on the miracle of its otherwise constant presence which we so readily take for granted. It is that which the Torah refers to as "a sign."

"Never again will the flame become a Fire to destroy all life. Whenever the Solar Eclipse appears in the Skies, I shall see it and remember the New Covenant between God and the people of Israel, as well as Judah" (based on Genesis 9:15-16).

HARRY FARLEY: As millions of Christians flee the Middle East and Christianity's original homeland becomes increasingly bereft of Christians, an odd anomaly is occurring. Christianity in the Gulf states is surging. Amid a shocking exodus in neighbouring countries, this strictly Islamic region has seen a jump in its Christian population. A high proportion of these immigrants come from heavily Christian countries such as the Philippines. The majority of these are Roman Catholic workers, replacing the original Christian population which were largely Orthodox.

The Editors of Encyclopaedia Britannica: It is generally believed that Matthias ministered in Judaea

RAMI DABBAS: Today, estimates suggest that only about 1,000 Christians remain in the Gaza Strip.

ANTHONY ESGUERRA: There are also 411 Filipinos in its Palestinian Territories, mostly in the West Bank and a smaller number in Gaza, according to the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

Bnei Lot are of an ancient origin. In the migratory tradition of Ruth begun more than two millennia ago, a remnant of David and Solomon migrated into Maritime Southeast Asia which comprises what is now Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, The Philippines, and Singapore, as well as Melanesia, Micronesia, and Polynesia, with a sizeable minority of Malays migrating back to their tribal allotments in Sephardic Judah, besides Terrestrial and Figurative Jordan.
